With all of that in mind, let’s start talking about actual upgrades. Any part that will be exposed to shear stress or impacts should be plastic – chassis components, suspension arms, axle carriers, wings, bodies, wheels etc. The only parts that should be metal are parts that need to bear very specific loads such as tension or compression - screws, wheel nuts, shock bodies or motor mounts should be made of metal. The stock parts are plastic for a reason – plastic deforms elastically and will return to its initial shape unless the impact strength is sufficient to break it (in that case, it's called plastic deformation, and it's irreversible, regardless of the material.

Avoid them as much as you possibly… aluminum arms may look cool, but they’re heavy, expensive and will deform irreversibly in the case of a strong impact – you will NOT be able to bend them back. Pushrods and turnbuckles the Traxxas red tubes are the best looking imo, they are certainly the strongest.ĭon't worry about FDR's, just get a temp gun and check your temps. The RPM ones being flexible have a tendancy for the pillow balls to pop out.Īnything is better than the stock knuckles though, the amount of play they have is just stupid. Knuckles wise I would go for alloy ones, as they are subject to alot of wear.
